This guide reveals the best soft play centres in London. It’s based on Loopla’s review of over 50 soft play centres from Travel Zones 1 to 4, where we checked prices, session lengths and equipment.

In London, a soft play centre can be anything from a simple climbing frame to a 4-storey mega structure. Prices can catch you out just as easily. Often a soft play centre will seem great value. Then you see they charge parents just as much as the kids to get in.

So we sifted through dozens of dedicated soft play centres, none further out than London Travel Zone 4. We looked at prices, equipment, reviews and age restrictions to save you the trouble of trawling Google.

FAQs about soft play centres in London

Where is the best soft play area in London?

The best soft play area in London is North London. This is where we found the most soft play options when we reviewed over 50 centres. It has two of the biggest climbing frames, at Clissold and Sobell leisure centres. North London is also home to Little Dinosaurs, for kids in their dino phase.

Battersea and Chelsea have great soft play centres, too. For value, Latchmere Leisure Centre in Battersea works out at about £3.67 per hour, including one adult. Gambado in Chelsea has a giant frame, dodgems and baby zones.

Where is the biggest soft play in London?

One of London’s biggest soft play centres is Kidspace Croydon. It has a huge play frame covering 30,000 square feet. But Kidspace Croydon sits outside London Travel Zone 4, so it did not make our list above. The biggest soft play centres in inner London are Clissold and Sobell leisure centres. We judged this by the number of levels in each play frame. They are the only two we found with four storeys for kids to climb.

What is the best age for soft play?

The best age for soft play is between 1 and 5 years. Kids this age love to climb, crawl and slide but are too young for the sort of risky play that the best adventure playgrounds cater to. Many London centres we found welcome children up to 10 years old, though. Some bigger frames go up to 12. Babies are welcome too, and many centres have a separate baby area.

Are there soft play centres in London for under 2s?

London has lots of soft play centres with special areas for under 2s. Many even have a separate space for babies with soft shapes, ball pits and low slides. Hullabaloo at the Sherriff Centre has a baby zone for babies up to 23 months. Sutcliffe Park in Greenwich has a baby area for 0 to 2 year-olds. Baby entry is often cheap, from about £2.45. Some places let babies in free, usually under 6 to 9 months.

Do adults have to pay at soft play centres?

Adults do not always have to pay at soft play centres. At most of London’s best soft play centres, one adult gets in free with a child. This is particularly common at leisure centre soft plays. Some classic soft play centres charge an adult fee. This is usually between £1.50 and £4. Always check the price before you go, as an adult ticket can add up.
