London has no shortage of theatre shows, but when you’re heading out with a baby or toddler in tow, you need a very specific kind of performance.

Little ones need something short, simple and full of energy, with puppets, music and plenty of flexibility to feed, wriggle and wander.

Many mainstream West End shows still don’t admit under‑3s, so for 0–2s we recommend children’s theatres and relaxed performances that are created with babies and toddlers in mind.

Read on for Loopla’s updated list of magical baby and toddler shows in London from March to December 2026 – all of which either actively welcome under‑2s, or are designed for very young audiences.

Tiny listeners lie, roll and crawl on a padded movement area while a live string quartet plays baby‑friendly volumes of Vivaldi, Mozart, Bach and more in the glow of hundreds of LED candles.

It’s relaxed, movement‑friendly and explicitly for parents plus babies roughly 0–9 months, with pram parking, baby‑change and a short 45‑minute running time.

Led by professional musicians, the show includes original Boppin’ Bunnies songs alongside live performances, with opportunities for children to explore instruments, sounds and simple sensory props with their grown-ups.

The session is designed to be relaxed and interactive, with under-1s attending for free and plenty of space for wriggling, dancing and snack breaks.

Take Flight

Take Flight appears at Half Moon Theatre as a first-theatre experience specially created for babies and toddlers.

The 35-minute performance combines movement, music and simple visual storytelling in a relaxed studio setting, with audiences sitting at floor level close to the performers.

Noise, feeding and movement are welcomed, making it a reassuring choice if you’re nervous about taking a baby to the theatre.

Where: Half Moon Theatre, Limehouse, E1

The Flying Bath

The Flying Bath is a puppet adaptation of the Julia Donaldson and David Roberts picture book, following bath toys who swoosh off on watery rescue missions when their family goes out.

With simple storytelling, songs and plenty of visual fun, the show is designed for a short attention span and works well for toddlers at the younger end of the 2–5 age band.

Little Angel also offer relaxed performances of The Flying Bath, with softer lighting, open doors and a more flexible approach to noise and movement.

Ages: 2–5 years
When: 02 May–12 Jul 2026
Where: Little Angel Theatre, Islington, N1
Prices: Tickets from around £8.50–£16 (varies by performance)

We’re Going On A Bear Hunt

We’re Going On A Bear Hunt at Polka Theatre is a musical adaptation of Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury’s classic picture book, following a family as they squash, splosh and squelch through different landscapes in search of a bear.

The show uses live music, repetition and lots of audience participation to keep young children engaged, and Polka’s family‑friendly set‑up (buggy park, café, early showtimes) makes it less stressful with toddlers.

Although officially aimed at ages 3–7, many families bring 2‑year‑olds, especially to daytime performances.

Ages: 3–7 years
Where: Polka Theatre, Wimbledon, SW19
Prices: Tickets from around £10–£16.50

The Everywhere Bear

The Everywhere Bear brings Julia Donaldson and Rebecca Cobb’s story of a classroom bear who goes off on an unexpected adventure to the stage with puppetry and music.

Aimed at ages 3–8, it’s still a popular choice for confident 2‑year‑olds who enjoy picture books and can sit with a grown-up through a 45–60 minute show.

The production balances exciting moments with gentler scenes, and Little Angel’s small auditorium makes it feel manageable for toddlers compared with a big West End theatre.

Ages: 3–8 years (with many 2‑year‑olds attending)
When: 7 March – 9 April 2026
Where: Little Angel Theatre, Islington, N1
Prices: Tickets from around £8.50–£16.00

What is the best theatre show in London for babies and toddlers?

For under‑2s, we rate gentle, sensory shows created specifically for babies, such as Take Flight at Polka Theatre and Half Moon Theatre, plus relaxed baby concerts like Bach to Baby. For older toddlers (2–4), Little Angel Theatre’s puppet shows – including The Flying Bath and The Everywhere Bear – and Polka or Unicorn’s 3–7 productions are brilliant “next steps” once they’re ready for a longer story.

Can I take a 2‑year‑old to the theatre?

Yes – you absolutely can, as long as you choose the right show. Look for early‑years pieces with age guidance starting at 0–2 or 2–4, relaxed performances, or puppet‑ and music‑based shows in small venues such as Polka, Little Angel, Unicorn, Half Moon and Southbank Centre.

Are West End shows suitable for 0–2s?

Most West End theatres set a minimum age of 3–5 and either don’t admit babies or strongly advise against bringing under‑3s because of the volume, length and content. For 0–2s we recommend early‑years theatres and relaxed concerts instead, then saving the big West End musicals for when your child is a bit older and more comfortable sitting through a full‑length show.

How do I find more toddler shows in London?

Use Loopla’s filters to search for events by age (0–2 and 2–4) and location, and you’ll see everything from baby concerts to toddler puppet theatre in one place. It’s also worth checking the “What’s On” pages at Little Angel Theatre, Polka Theatre, Unicorn Theatre, Southbank Centre and Questors regularly, as new early‑years runs and relaxed performances are added throughout the year.
