About Little Kickers South Manchester and Trafford
The UK’s Favourite Pre-School Football Class! From 18 months to 8 years of age :)
Little Kickers has grown to become the world’s favourite pre-school and Key Stage 1 footie activity class. Little Kickers South Manchester and Trafford now have 11 venues and about 800 children enrolled.
It’s a tried and tested programme that is loved by children as young as 18 months old for over 20 years and is now coached on 5 continents.
Beware, not every child’s football class is the same, our parents will vouch for that.
Created by coaches, teachers and parents with the early learning goals at its heart, as well as balance and coordination the classes are about fun and learning with sessions becoming independent from parents thanks to fixed class sizes, a course structure, very distinct age groupings and generous coach to child ratios. Mum and dad stay and cheer from the sidelines in what can be a first step out on their own two feet. We offer the same consistent coaching staff each week as we know how important the rappour between child and coach is to their enjoyment and learning. We have been teaching locally for over 10 years and have children, siblings, parents and coaches who have been with us since the start.

Junior Kickers builds on the foundation skills and football basics learnt in Little Kicks.
Using a familiar structure, children are challenged both physically and mentally.
For those children who started in Little Kicks, independent participation is encouraged.
If your child has just joined us you may need to stay close-by for a few weeks, but the ultimate goal is for children to be able to participate on their own.
The format remains learning through play and because children are allowed to work to their own ability, it is suitable for complete beginners.
Play and games are at the heart of everything we do.
Our games cleverly disguise the learning aspect so the children just think they are playing.
The more the children enjoy the games, the more they participate. This enjoyment leads to greater confidence, which in turn leads to self-initiated participation and independent play.
Junior Kickers teaches the fundamentals of football in a fun learning environment through a series of games using our tried and tested structure.
Our Junior Kickers receive quarterly badges which highlight the key physical, cognitive and football skills they are exposed to in our programme.
Our Little Kickers absolutely love showing their badges to their teammates and family!
Little Kicks is the perfect introduction to the fun world of Little Kickers.
Children are introduced to the basics of football (dribbling, striking, goal scoring etc.) in a play-oriented yet structured format, using child-friendly but realistic football equipment.
Each child is given the opportunity to work within their ability level but taught in a group environment.
Classes also provide a fantastic opportunity for you to assist in your child’s early education, helping them develop physically as well as improving cognitive and social skills.
The main focus of Little Kicks is what we call ‘learning to learn’.
Our coaches are taught specific techniques that enable children to get the most out of our classes.
We believe that play is one of the greatest development tools and when combined with repetition and structure, ensures effective learning.
Classes involve a number of games that require parents to put on their running shoes and get actively involved in the session.
However, some games are specifically targeted at developing independence.
These transition games mean children as young as two will be able to play independently of their parent or guardian.

Children begin to understand the importance of team play and matches are gradually introduced.
Mighty Kickers classes incorporate our rounded learning approach of play, practice and understanding.

Mega Kickers is the culmination of the preceding age groups. It brings together all the skills learnt and introduces them into real football matches.
Children continue to develop the social and cognitive skills as well as honing their football skills, putting them to use at the end of each session during the 20-minute match.
There is a focus on fair play, as well as a focus on knowledge, understanding and practical application of the rules of play.
More touches on the ball lead to faster and greater skill gain.
Every child has their own ball throughout the session and our games are specifically designed for maximum touches of the ball.
The games are progressively challenging enabling new skills to be learnt each lesson, however children are able to work within their ability.
Children become more competitive at this age and are taught to challenge themselves and one another.
The match becomes the climax of the session and is the perfect outlet for channelling children’s competitive energy as well as transferring their skills into a real world situation.

Mighty Kickers are confident with boundless energy and this is catered for in the lesson plans.
Our games are fast-paced and increasingly football focused, with fun still at the heart, meaning that even new starters easily pick them up.
Children begin to understand the importance of team play and matches are gradually introduced.
Mighty Kickers classes incorporate our rounded learning approach of play, practice and understanding.
Play is the motivator and promotes continued and repeated practice.
This disguised learning in itself is a powerful tool, however we believe in not only teaching the children how to perform the skills, but also to understand why and where to use the skill in the real world.
This transcends all six areas of our curriculum:
- Personal, social & emotional development,
- Communication, language & literacy,
- Mathematical development,
- Knowledge & understanding of the World,
- Physical development,
- Creative development.

We're thrilled to announce an exciting new opportunity for your children: our brand new Mega Kickers "Football Confidence Group".
Specifically designed for all children aged 5-8 years of age, this brand new 90-minute weeknight class builds on our Little Kickers commitment to nurture a child's love of sport, by more deeply developing our current Mega Kickers footballng skills and knowledge whilst growing their confidence and softer skills, something that every child needs both on and off the football pitch.
The new group has been created by and will be led by our best coaches who as well as being great children's coaches, bring with them coaching experience from the UK and from overseas.
As such they will be incorporating best practice and current thinking from youth football around the world into your child's session.
The new group will give your child the chance to improve faster and to build on their current knowledge whilst increasing stamina and general fitness as part of our age-appropriate framework.
Specifically designed as a longer session, it will further develop what the children are already learning in their current class by coaches being able to spend more time with each of them and for each child to spend more time learning and improving.
In doing so we aim to not only build their confidence and improve their skill level, but also improve physical dexterity, coordination, and concentration as well as encourage teamwork, tolerance and sportspersonship, "skills for life" whatever a child's actual current footballing level.
Finally, just to be clear, our sessions are suitable for both boys and girls.
This type of class is not something that is not usually offered in the UK and follows more closely the style of continental youth football coaching, smaller groups and more specifics.
