Don't worry if you are an absolute beginner or a longstanding expert, you can lose yourself for a couple of hours in life drawing. We have a great selection of male and female models. The session usually starts with quick warm up poses, then onto a longer pose for the rest of the evening. Tuition offered or you may wish to do your own thing.

Explore drawing the nude, we have a wonderful selection of male and female models. Don't worry if you are an absolute beginner or a longstanding expert, you can lose yourself for a couple of hours in life drawing. Each week we create a different masterpiece inspired by Artists both traditional and contemporary, we call this our 'Main Project'. Alongside this we offer a cut and stick table, a drawing table and a table of either toys. We wind down the session with a sing-a-long and dancing, finishing with Stickers! Everything you make you get to take home, to frame on the wall to keep in a mini portfolio, to send to family! During our Summer Term we open up our Garden, with water and painting outside, so you can enjoy the sunshine.

We learn step by step how to draw the Portrait with pencil, with our talented portraiture painter Sarah Teare. Using the grid method, we will learn to draw eyes, nose, mouth while gaining an understanding of proportions, We explore adding depth to our Portraits with shading, tonal mark making and heavy details.

We look at the interesting painting of René Magritte, a surrealist who loved painting clouds and bowler hats. ​We will make a life-sized head through poster! A moving parts Magritte man. Create a huge eye in oil pastels and learn to paint fluffy clouds. Includes: Life-size poster, Fridge magnet, Magritte man, oil pastel eye and sketchbook.

THE ART OF GEORGIA O'KEEFE Discover the colourful work of artist Georgia O’Keefe, learn to draw flowers from observation, enlarged and close-up. We look at colour mixing using watercolours, acrylics and oil pastels. The bull’s head skull was a favourite motif of O’Keefe, we will create a low relief version. Also decorating a sweet Flower picture frame too! ​Includes: Canvas, low relief sculpture, picture frame, sketchbook and keyring.

Step by step guidance on shading, composition, proportion and volume. We focus on drawing single objects from eye, using 6B pencils to achieve an accurate and realistic image. This is a great workshop for understanding tonal drawing and learning how to use a pencil. Perfect submission pieces for an art scholarship portfolio. Our focus is drawing in a Manga style! We look closely at faces, proportions, features and hairstyles. Learn how to create slick characters using pencil, watercolour pencils and fine liners. Step by step drawing in small groups is the key to success. Following several sketches we create our final character on A3 card, complete with a frame mount, for excellent presentation. Japanese artist, Takashi Murakami paints enormous smiling daisies and happy panda faces on walls and canvas, he makes sculptures too. Our workshop is about COLOUR, bright colour and mixing! We make a huge smiling daisy sculpture, use the image of the panda to make a design or our cushion cover, draw in a concertina sketchbook and design a happy badge. Happy Smiley workshop! In this workshop, we are inspired by the Natural world. Taking cues from David Hockney's bold and vibrant style, we will create stunning drawings and paintings of exotic plants. Using stencils, spray paint and acrylics, we explore the colours and the surreal world of Frida Kahlo. This workshop celebrates Mexico with a street art twist! Banksy the supreme street artist and stenciller, will be our inspiration for this workshops. Learn how to make your own street art, using your initials, we will stencil, spray paint and paint! We look at the work of artist Joseph Cornell to create our story boxes , using found objects, mysterious drawings & traditional stories & memory... We create a low relief sculpture, from which we make drawings & a final painting using acrylics on canvas. This is an observational drawing, painting & making workshop, work suitable for art scholarship portfolio.

AFRICAN ART We take a trip to Africa! Looking at the art of the Ndebele people - bright + colourful! We learn to draw animals from our Safari! Hippos, big Cats, Elephants + Zebra. Paint your favourite animal on canvas. Create a cute, clay zebra, make a stunning Safari sunset wall hanging and a low relief lion sculpture. Lots of painting, making and drawing. We look at the strange and beautiful work of Surrealist artist, Salvador Dali. We will explore his dream themes, strange images and his use of subtle colour blending. Students will produce an A3 acrylic painting on canvas suitable for portfolio submissions.

We step into the garden of Claude Monet, exploring his stunning use of colour, his dashes of blue pink create his iconic waterlily paintings. Using acrylic paints on canvas create your very own masterpiece. We use plaster of Paris to make a beautiful pond & lily pad for our ceramic frog to lounge on. Learn about the great artist, paint in his style, learn to draw the famous Japanese bridge and the famous Monet Frog! Oh & to mix impressionist colours! We will work in paint, oil pastel, collage and plaster of paris. We dive into the world of enormous stone figures, the reclining figures created by English artist, Moore. His iconic statues stand, proud and beautifully smooth on Hampstead Heath and the Southbank in London. We will make drawings using charcoal & chalk to try to capture the shapes and lines of these immense beings. We experiment with wire, plaster, card and clay to create our own reclining figure.

Julian Opie & James Rizzi Workshop We look at artists, Julian Opie & James Rizzi, both use simple line drawings, almost rather cartoon-like for their portraits. We will learn how to draw the face, mix colours and paint an Opie Style portrait on a t-shirt! Make a fun picture frame and a large flip body poster too! Understanding perspective in drawing, can transform your artwork. We teach the basics of landscape perspective - using diagram format, we then transpose these techniques, into a finished painting. THE ART OF GEORGIA O'KEEFE Discover the colourful work of artist Georgia O’Keefe, learn to draw flowers from observation, enlarged and close-up.
