Come and join us at Tate Modern to learn about Paul Cezanne and his art with a special focus on his watercolours. We will then have a mini art lesson using watercolour pencils to recreate themes that Paul Cezanne painted in this medium. Our art lessons are aimed not so much at throwing facts at children but engage them in conversation and get into the spirit of what art means to each of us.

Our Art of the Ancient World Workshop is suitable for students in years 3-6. The mysterious and magnificent art of the Ancient World is awaiting your child. We will learn about the first civilisation Mesopotamia and build a ziggurat, decorate sarcophagi and learn about Egyptian art objects that were believed to have magical powers, tell each other Greek myths, decorate our own pots and pretend to be designers for the Roman ruler's monuments. Through art, we will be learning stories about the past. We believe that love of art does not mean to be good at painting or drawing; anyone can learn to love art just by learning to look at an artwork with a curious eye and by stepping into the shoes of the artist who created it. Children will produce a piece of art each day in relation to the artist. Through fun and engaging lessons your children will learn to understand why art is so powerful at helping us to think, to feel and to wonder freely and deeply. With your child, we will make a journey to 19th-century sunny Aix-en-Provence and fashionable Paris. We will look at paintings and will discuss if what we see moves us and why we think these artworks are now a part of our artistic heritage. For children aged 8-12 years old.
