This art course is designed to support GCSE students through teaching them drawing skills as well as acrylics, watercolours, portraiture and mixed media work.
In preparation for GCSE, it is important to provide a strong basis for varied techniques which they can use to develop their projects and make them stand out, while building confidence.
With the Art Leader's support, students create work related to their course assignments and/or other relevant criteria.
During our KidsArt classes children are taught how to paint, draw, print, work with clay, sculpt, collage, use soft and oil pastels, and other core techniques, whilst at the same time learning about famous artists and their styles – each project is inspired by an artist or art movement.
We cover a huge time range including prehistoric art through early civilisations, Medieval and Renaissance art, Islamic art, Mannerism, Baroque and Romanticism, pre-Raphaelites, Neo-classicism, Realism, the birth of Modern art, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Cubism, Futurism, Abstract art, Surrealism, Expressionism, Pop art, contemporary art movements, sculpture through the ages, and art from non-Western European traditions – including American, Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Aboriginal artists.
Where appropriate sessions reference current London exhibitions.
KidsArt!’s core aim is to teach children to become accomplished and proficient artists who take pride in their artwork, and to nurture and encourage an informed love of art.
Children are given the self-confidence and technical skills to produce their own original art work inspired by a good background understanding of art movements over the centuries.
We provide a fun, stimulating and engaging experience and, over the programme courses, children will build up an impressive portfolio of their own work.
Artwork is sent home as it is completed, accompanied by an illustrated factsheet which records what the children have learned about the artist and the art techniques employed.
The children are provided with good quality sketchbooks for use in class to record techniques learnt and for sketching on gallery visits.
Art-Venture Club provides a fun-packed, stimulating yet informal setting for your child to really enjoy the process and results of creating art.
Designed to give your child the chance to explore a wide range of materials and media, the class covers model making, printmaking, puppetry, painting and drawing.
All activities are carefully planned to increase visual awareness and above all to stimulate enthusiasm and enjoyment.

The art course is designed to explore both the 2D and 3D to ensure that a wide range of mediums and techniques are covered.
Primary School students will begin with a clay tile project, exploring 3D modelling, perspective and design.
For Secondary School students, the first project will work with acrylics on canvas and will focus on a specific artist.
Following this, all ages will cover watercolours, inks, pastels, oil pastels, clay, papier mâché, metal tooling and much more in age-appropriate projects.
Before the project we do a starter every week; this will work on core visual skills such as visual memory, fine motor control, visual perception and spatial awareness as well as introducing new mediums and techniques, which will develop colour theory and tonal values.

The Little Art-Venture Club is a great introduction to the world of art.
These child-led, exploratory sessions will enable you and your child to discover different materials, textures and art forms in an engaging and stimulating environment.
Children acquire new skills on a week-by-week basis and gain more confidence in the vocabulary they use to describe what they see and feel.
Activities are kept relevant and interesting by linking classes to seasonal activities and celebrations.
You can purchase an ‘Art-Venture sketchbook’ in which all the work your child produces over the course is collected together: this serves as a wonderful record of their progress and a real source of celebration.
These are available from your Tutor for £5.
Please note, this is not a drop off session and parents and carers are expected to stay and join in.
