Get to Know & Love Your Sewing Machine
Do you have a sewing machine that spends more time in the cupboard or in its box than it does
on your sewing table?
Here’s an opportunity to get to know your sewing machine and what it can do for you!
Join this course to learn how to thread your machine correctly, how to sew a straight
seam and a curved one, the functions of the stitches and make yourself a tote bag and a pair of
pyjama trousers.
Just bring yourself, your machine, a paper copy of the machine’s manual and a
basic sewing kit.
Participants will also need to bring 0.5 metres of cotton fabric, matching thread and 1.5 metres of cotton webbing to the first lesson to make the tote bag.
This course is suitable for beginners and those that haven’t sewn in a while and would like to refresh their skills.

Overview of comics and cartoon history and how they been used as tools for storytelling and communication over the years.
2. BASIC ANATOMY:
Showing how the human body works and is designed to move.
3. CHARACTER DESIGN:
How to work up designs for different types of characters and how they fit into the stories you want to tell.
4. STORYTELLING:
Overview of comics storytelling, layout and structure.
5. SCRIPTING & LETTERING:
A look at the basics of comics scriptwriting and how to produce clear lettering by hand for comics.
6. COLOURING:
An exploration of different colouring techniques (including, if possible, computer colouring).
7. COMIC STRIP:
Using the skills gathered so far, students will work on their own comic stories.
8. COMPLETE FINISHED COMIC:
By the end of the course each student will produce their own complete 8 - 12 page comic strip.
This Comic camp is suitable for children ages 7-14 years old.

We always let our students choose from a huge range of projects so they make something they love and want to cherish!
We provide the fabric, patterns and ideas and your child can make magic, we have a whole host of projects to choose from, great for beginners/ intermediate.
Hand sewing and machine sewing projects will be on offer from cushions to jumpsuits and everything in between.
Book for multiple sessions to make more adventurous things!
If you want to stay all day please book both a morning and a afternoon session.
If your child is staying all day please send them with a packed lunch and weather appropriate clothes for the day. If it's nice enough we eat outside or at least take them for a little walk to get some fresh air at lunch.

Get stuck into sewing, crafting and designing projects to instill a sense of confidence and pride.
These sessions are open to kids of all sewing abilities, from complete newbies to confident creators.
Regardless of their ability, they’ll leave with new knowledge and progress on projects appropriate to their skill level.
This is a great extracurricular activity that will give your child transferable life skills.
They’ll learn to use a sewing machine and discover loads of other craft and design techniques including: appliqué, embroidery, free machining, dressmaking, pattern cutting, and much, much more!
What’ll they make?
Each child will tackle a project of their choosing, individually guided by one of our friendly and experienced teachers.
We have a huge range of projects on offer so they can choose to make something they will love and cherish for years to come.
They can also choose fabric and trims available in our studio. We have everything, from regular cotton and standard buttons, to plush faux fur and sequins – a dream for imaginative young makers!
Some of our projects include: cuddlies, bags, t-shirts, skirts, trousers, cushions the list goes on
