And when you get it wrong, you’re made to sit out, but you don’t understand why. It seems so unfair. Boxed In explores the unspoken barriers of attitudes, social etiquette and behaviour that surround us. How do you know a barrier is there if you can’t see it? And if you can't see it, how can you remove it? This heartfelt story is about being made to feel naughty, just because the rules don’t make sense. Boxed in is a Daryl & Co. and Half Moon co-production; an exciting collaboration by a ground-breaking Disabled-led theatre company and the UK’s leading small-scale young people’s venue and touring company. Boxed In is largely non-verbal. This makes it accessible to a wide range of people, including d/Deaf, hard of hearing, BSL users and non-English speakers.

Join the country’s longest-established amateur ballet company plus specially invited guests for a sparkling programme of dance. The performances will feature scenes from Petipa’s classical masterpiece La Bayadère and culminate with the joyous, uplifting tarantella from Bournonville’s Napoli. These familiar favourites contrast with original, contemporary works showcasing the choreographic talents of four of the company’s dancers. My Life with the Wave is a story of friendship, taking audiences on a journey beneath the waves. Created for young people (aged from 11) with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities and staged in Interplay Theatre’s unique illuminated dome, My Life with Wave is inspired by the poem by Mexican Poet Laureate Octavio Paz and uses movement, sound, digital technology, and physical interaction to create a fully immersive sensory experience.

A single man plays all the characters, creates all the scenes and, despite his best efforts, falls a little short of perfection. Our award winning shows feature the funniest comedians in a totally baby-friendly environment. The line up for the May show is MC Sarah Iles ("never fails to deliver" Chortle), Felicity Ward ("Smart, swaggering standup" The Guardian), and Mark Cram ("Clever and fearless" Just for Laughs). These events are all about you… the parents! (but don’t worry – we also take great care of our younger guests.) We provide comfortable seating, buggy parking and baby changing, so that your baby is happy and you can relax. We also keep at least 40 spare seats in the theatre, so you and your baby have plenty of space. And there's a 'breakout room' nearby, if you need a quiet space with baby at any time. The bar is fully stocked, whether you fancy a cuppa or even something a bit stronger.   If you need to whip out a bum (the baby’s please!) a boob or a bottle please feel free… and our comics won’t mind being heckled by our younger guests! The show features two acts plus a compere, and the whole show will last approx. 75 minutes. Sophie Nüzel’s work for children and families is a gentle and multi-sensory dance and puppetry production. It invites young audiences to use their imagination and believe that regardless of how little they are they can still make a difference.

The Give Into Dance annual company dance show is a diverse and energetic dance performance from the students who attend weekly classes, held at Jacksons Lane and Cape venues. The show is comprised of individual dance routines performed by eleven groups of children, young people and adult dancers performing Street Dance, Hip-Hop and Contemporary Fusion dance styles. Our students have dance abilities ranging from professional dancers to complete beginners. All students are encouraged and welcome to perform with us. All aboard for a delightful train journey through India. choogh choogh is a family-friendly show inspired by the joy for travelling through India on a train. It combines classical Indian dance with contemporary movement, theatre and play, sharing with audiences a world full of colour, invention and flow. The journey starts with the audience getting a special choogh choogh ticket. Three artists weave a traveling tapestry with three scarves and original songs evoking, the sights, sounds and smells of the train, hawkers, festivals, musicians, rivers, jungles and cities. Along the way as your train ticket get checked and imaginary food is sold and shared, this show is an exploration of just how much we can see and imagine, together, as the train chooghs chooghs on.

The singing mermaid is tempted away to join a travelling circus, with the promise of a life of excitement, and her own swimming pool! The circus audiences love her singing but she soon finds she’s been tricked by the dastardly circus master. Will she ever escape? And who will help her along the way? With three skilled performers, beautiful puppets, and wonderful music and songs by Barb Jungr, Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks’ much-loved story comes to the stage. A Relaxed Performance is taking place on Mon 1 Apr, 1pm Relaxed performances are open to everyone but are particularly suitable for people with sensory, communication or learning disabilities, and anyone who would benefit from a less formal environment. Little Bear can’t catch the funny joke at school when friends are laughing, but feels the crunch of snow on frozen pavements. Join Little Bear and Dad Bear as they learn how there are many ways to communicate love, and to find your place in the world. Can Bears Ski? is based on the book by poet Raymond Antrobus, Ted Hughes award-winner, who draws on his own experience as a deaf child in a hearing world. With a set inspired by Polly Dunbarʼs stunning illustrations, puppetry and music, Pied Piper Theatre Company and Deafinitely Theatre are delighted to bring this beautiful story to the stage.

Join us for the finals of Dance Barnet, a pan-disability Strictly-inspired dance competition which celebrates the joy dance can bring to everyone. On Thursday 16 May ten disabled people will perform in the Pentland Theatre as they compete in the grand final of Dance Barnet, a very special initiative that celebrates the joy that dancing brings to so many people – whatever your ability. Dance Barnet is a partnership between the London Borough of Barnet and inclusive dance company Step Change Studios. The initiative provides opportunities for disabled people to participate in dance through a series of free workshops. The grand final promises to be a sparkling, uplifting event with celebrity judges providing commentary and scores. The audience will also be able to pick their favourite couple on the day.

A Cardboard Adventures Production  Join Designer Sam Wilde and Director Ian Nicholson (I Want My Hat Back Trilogy) on their next cardboard adventure. Using their trademark sustainable cardboard puppet style explore BOXVILLE, a land made entirely from sustainable cardboard! Work with the BOXVILLE engineers to craft-a-long with the story and build your own way through the tasks and trials of BOXVILLE, earning everything you need to become a fully fledged cardboard engineer!  You will meet paper dragons, corrugated crabs and cardboard space robots in this STEM skilled, hands on, interactive, cardboard adventure!  All cardboard creations can be taken home at the end of the show.

This intimate show is set in a library full of books that hold more than stories within their pages. It is a tale of the power of books, and the bravery of a young boy called Tomas. Tomas hates reading and school, but his world is turned upside down the day he meets the Unicorn Lady in his local library... An enchanting and interactive production, I Believe in Unicorns, which won an Argus Angel Award for Artistic Excellence at Brighton Festival, sparks imagination in both young and old. We challenge you not to believe in unicorns after joining Tomas’ spellbinding journey. 'I Believe in Unicorns' also includes a 'book swap’, for which audience members are invited to bring along a favourite children's book (for ages 6 and upwards) to help form part of the stage set at the beginning of the show. At the end the children are invited to swap their book for another one and so have a new story 'from the library' to take home with them. (This is not obligatory and we do have a few extra books for those who cannot bring one with them)

Unleash Your Inner Superhero at artsdepot’s 3-Day Kids Camp! Dive into the world of puppetry and storytelling, and craft your very own superhero puppet from scratch. Pop School is a chance to play at being a professional pop star for a day! Participants will write original lyrics to a new song by writer / performer Claire Gaydon and prestigious music producer James Jacob (who has produced records for Little Simz, Dua Lipa & Lana Del Ray) as well as learning choreography and exploring fashion and branding. This 1-day workshop will take place from 10am - 3pm each day. A hot lunch is included.

RACEWAY – Build a vehicle to race down our track made with LEGO® and time your run! MOSAICS – Create a mosaic using LEGO® DOTS and add your design to the mosaic display. Are you interested in performing or acting? Want to take part in a play? Join our NT Connections Company! Every year we bring together a group of fantastic young people to make our artsdepot Connections company to perform one of the National Theatre Connections plays. The company explore and rehearse the play weekly on Tuesdays from December with a Professional Director, and then perform the play at artsdepot on our Studio Theatre stage as part of the NT Connections Festival in April! We will be holding a group workshop audition on Tuesday 28 November from 5pm – 7pm at artsdepot. This is an opportunity for us to meet each other and for you to get a taste of the process.
