We follow the renowned Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, ensuring your little one gets the best start in their ballet journey.

This Ballet Pre-Primary class is suitable for children aged 5-6 years old.


About BWA Performing Arts

The Betty Wivell Academy of Performing Arts was established in 1964. 

Since then, thousands of students have trained with us. When we started, it was ballet lessons in Miss Wivell’s sitting room. Now we have multiple classes across 3 venues!

We prioritise more than just dance – we are all about building confidence and developing skills. Whether your child has dreams of a career in the arts (as many of our West Ender alumni) or simply wants to explore their passion for dance and theatre, we got it covered.

We take pride in embracing the diversity and unique talents and interests of each student! 

From competitions to shows (our most recent production, Seussical, was a success!) every year our students grace the stage with confidence and joy!

For those who wish to elevate their performing skills we also do local productions, and join competitions where our students usually take some medals home!

We also have students who are represented by our partner agencies. Some have landed roles in films, and national marketing campaigns!

Musical Theatre

Engaging ballet class with nurturing environment to introduce the little ones to ballet. 

Aimed to develop students' coordination, musicality and a strong love for dance.

This Beginner Ballet class is suitable for children aged 2-3 years old. A parent/guardian may accompany the child during class if needed.

Beginner Ballet, 2-3yrs

My daughter attends beginner ballet classes, and absolutely loves every moment. Miss Lily is wonderful! Patient, encouraging, and always creates a warm and welcoming environment.

BWA has been great for my little girl. She loves going and it has helped her with her confidence. Candice is a wonderful teacher and has brought the best out of my daughter.

Our eldest has been at Betty wivell for 5 years, doing tap, modern, musical theatre and drama. The school is very warm and supportive, with lovely teachers but also focusses on development and progress.

I started here as a child and 30 odd years later I’ve enrolled my daughter and she loves it. The teachers are all so lovely.. My daughter is now doing musical theatre aswell and she’s loving it.

I'm really happy with this ballet class. My daughter is 5 and her class group are giggly and silly and unfocused, as they should be at that age. But the teacher Miss Candice really perseveres in teaching them technique and skills. She often makes them laugh and you can hear how much fun they are having. I care most about my daughter enjoying it, but I can see her developing skills and I'm really impressed by that because it's certainly not easy to get the kids to focus on quite strange and hard concepts, but they are doing well and it's a lovely class.

Our 3YO daughter LOVES Miss Candice’s classes and I love seeing her develop in confidence and skills over the weeks. Such a warm, caring and lovely atmosphere - couldn’t recommend more highly!

My daughter really enjoys the ballet classes, The teachers are wonderful—kind, patient, and very professional. They create a positive atmosphere where children can learn, grow, and truly enjoy dancing. We are very happy with this experience !
