About

This new group of our Chelsea Chess Club, exclusively for 5 to 7-year-olds, was created in January 2024. Chess Rising Stars London Academy has designed the ideal environment to help introduce the game to younger children. Lessons are shorter than at our original Chelsea Chess Club and will be in a smaller teaching group. Your child will discover the joys of learning chess in an interactive and enjoyable setting. We will work together on chess strategy and tactics, as well as associated skills such as sportsmanship, planning, and focus. No knowledge of chess is required, although we suggest that anyone without a chess background join the club by week 3 of the term. Additional Information: • Trophies, medals, toys, and certificates will be awarded at the end of the term. • The sessions will be taught by experienced members of the Chess Rising Stars coaching team. • Registered with the English Chess Federation’s Club Finder Tool. • Map your child’s chess progress with Chess Rising Stars. • The Chelsea Chess Club would be the natural next step for chess improvement. About Chess Rising Stars Chess Rising Stars offers individual and group lessons for all levels and ages, in-person and online. Our lessons will be tailored to your needs, including openings, tactics, endgames, strategy, tournament skills, and sportsmanship. Why learn chess? Strategic thinking Chess teaches children how to think ahead, understand the consequences of their actions and develop strategies to achieve their goals. It fosters the ability to plan multiple steps ahead, which can be applied in real-life decision making. Problem solving Playing chess presents numerous challenges that require problem solving skills. Children learn to analyse situations, explore different solutions and overcome obstacles. These skills will help to support their development. Patience and discipline Chess requires patience and discipline, as players must wait for their turn, think through their moves and remain focused for the duration of the game. These qualities will support children in other areas of their lives.
