Fixation Academy of Performing Arts is proud to teach LAMDA exams & qualifications at our establishment. The LAMDA Level 1 Award in Performance: Acting is designed to enable Learners to develop basic acting skills. Learners will perform two scenes from memory, audibly and clearly. They will be able to apply their knowledge, understanding and skills to produce a thoughtful interpretation, based on creative engagement with the material and careful preparation. LAMDA Level 1 is sectioned into 3 Grades, with an exam for each, and focus on the following Learning Outcomes: LO1: Perform two scenes from memory, demonstrating an understanding of the material LO2: Use vocal skills in response to the text LO3: Use the face, body and performance space in response to the text LO4: Know and understand the characters and situations in the chosen scenes In LAMDA classes students work towards their exams, and are entered to sit them at the end of the Autumn and Spring Terms. A student will be entered into their exam when the teacher and student both feel comfortable and ready to do so. The process of preparing for and succeeding in a LAMDA Examination helps Learners, whatever their ages or aspirations, to develop a broad range of skills that will serve them throughout life. Ballet beginners is the perfect introduction to begin learning the technique, terminology and first steps of Ballet dance. Our Ballet teachers are committed to approaching the learning of ballet technique through the use of storytelling, creativity and imagination, making our classes fun! Our Ballet classes follow the Royal Academy of Dance Primary Ballet syllabus and offer our students the opportunity to enter their exams and develop through their grades, examined and accredited by the Royal Academy of Dance. But don’t worry, if students choose not to enter any exams, they are encouraged to still continue learning in the classroom along with all of their friends. No ballerina is left behind! Dance classes at our Academy work towards optional annual dance showcases as well as competitions and public performances throughout the academic year. Our dance teachers are all fully DBS checked, experienced and passionate coaches, ready to inspire, support and develop our student’s ability in dance. UNIFORM Student's are required to wear uniform when attending class. Ballet students are welcome to wear any leotard and ballet tights of their choice, with ballet shoes. At our Academy we currently offer our ballet beginners class for the Primary ballet age group: 6-8 years. This class is covered by a regular payment of £29.27 per month.

Baby Ballet is for the youngest students in our Academy: Ages 3-5. Baby Ballet is the perfect introduction to learning ballet for your little one. In Baby Ballet we focus on developing the first steps of ballet technique through play and storytelling; giving your little one a safe space to learn, gain confidence, make friends and shine! Mini Movers is the perfect introduction to dance and focuses predominantly on having fun through dance, storytelling and games, whilst starting to develop the key skills in dancing, including: Musicality, timing, flexibility, balance and coordination. Mini Movers is perfect for any little ones with lots of energy and who love to have fun and like trying new things! Mini Movers focuses on learning a range of different dance styles including: Jazz, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Funk and Street Dance. Mini Movers is a perfect way to begin building your little ones confidence, develop important social skills and make new friends. Dance classes at our Academy work towards optional annual dance showcases as well as competitions and public performances throughout the academic year. From on stage acting to behind the scenes production, our Youth Theatre members create their own full-scale plays and productions, taking an initial story idea from scratch to the final full-scale show, which they perform annually. Youth Theatre classes explore skills such as script writing, characterisation, story lines, film, theatre and acting for screen as well as study acting practitioners and playwrights to further their own technique and skills on stage. But don’t worry, if being in the spotlight isn’t your thing but you still want to be a part of the process, the backstage production process is just as crucial as the actors. Our Youth Theatre classes also learn about production, lights and sound tech, costume and set design, direction as well as backstage crew. There’s a place for everyone in Youth Theatre Productions. Youth Theatre Productions is a more serious look into the industry. Teachers use their extensive knowledge and understanding to help students navigate towards their own careers in the performing arts. Commercial Dance is an expressive form of dance, most commonly seen in music videos, theatre and on tiktok! Dancing is a GREAT way for children to keep active and have fun whilst doing it! Our dancers build positive relationships in class and make memories for life. Our commercial dance classes focus on building confidence and improving musicality, discipline, agility, self expression and flexibility, as well as physical fitness, strength and stamina. Dance classes work towards optional annual dance showcases as well as competitions and public performances throughout the academic year. Kickstarter, Junior and Senior age groups are split and rotate through learning the three core elements, Acting, Singing and Dance over our 2-hour weekly class. Our Musical Theatre class focuses on developing skills in confidence, musicality, vocal strength, projection, harmony, pitch, flexibility, expression, character building, storytelling, script work, singing technique as well as movement in fundamental dance styles, including Jazz, Ballet, Street Dance, Commercial and Lyrical Dance. Our Musical Theatre teachers use their experience and knowledge to guide and train students towards becoming versatile and ‘triple threat’ style all round performers. Our Musical Theatre class focuses on developing skills in confidence, musicality, vocal strength, projection, harmony, pitch, flexibility, expression, character building, storytelling, script work, singing technique as well as movement in fundamental dance styles, including Jazz, Ballet, Street Dance, Commercial and Lyrical Dance. Our Musical Theatre teachers use their experience and knowledge to guide and train students towards becoming versatile and ‘triple threat’ style all round performers. Join us for a week of fun, creativity, and musical magic - designed for children aged 6-12, this show in a week is perfect for any lovers of performing and / or Matilda. At the end of the week, showcase your talents in a spectacular performance of Matilda the Musical for family and friends. Experience the thrill of being on stage, complete with lights, costume, music, and applause! What to Expect: - Each day students will work with our professional teachers to dance, sing and act, as they learn scenes and songs from Matilda the musical, preparing for their end of week show on Friday. - Our end of week show will take place in the theatre at Finchley Youth Theatre on Friday at 2pm. All friends and family are welcome to attend to watch the final performance and celebrate all the students hard work! - Each child will receive a certificate at the end the week You Will Need: - You will need to provide your own school uniform (grey or black skirt or bottoms and white shirt) for the show - You will need to bring a packed lunch with you each day and water bottle. Please no nuts.
