About Headstone Manor & Museum

After several years of National Lottery Heritage Fund restoration work you can now explore the Small Barn; discovering what Harrow was like before the Headstone Manor we know today was built in 1310. 

Your journey into Harrow’s history continues in the Manor House.


The Small Barn

The Grade 1 listed Manor House now tells the many tales of the people who once lived there, as well as the history of the whole Harrow area. 

As you travel through the house from the most recently built parts to the oldest, you will travel back in time, ending up in the early medieval house which still stands as an astonishing part of Harrow’s early history. 

For those who are more interested in the architecture of this fascinating site, the complex Manor House has been carefully restored to show the many changes which have taken place over the centuries. 

You can also see the discoveries made during the restoration works themselves.


The Manor House

The Granary now hosts our Learning Centre. With everything from The Art Cart and dressing up (to which our younger visitors can help themselves!) to our extensive programme of Tuesday Talks.

Join us in the beautiful historic grounds of Headstone Manor and Museum for Headstone Village Show 2026 - our much-loved village fair, this year with a fun 1980s twist as we celebrate Headstone Manor’s 40th anniversary!

Headstone Village Show welcomes back Harrow in LEAF to present their 21st Annual Horticultural & Craft Show. 

Explore a vibrant display of creative and colourful entries, culminating in an exciting awards ceremony to round off the day.

Wander through the grounds of Headstone Manor and enjoy a fantastic programme of FREE entertainment for all ages. 

Be sure to sample the delicious food and drink stalls on offer – yum!

We’re also delighted to welcome back Duck Pond Market, now a firm favourite at our community events. 

Expect a bustling marketplace filled with artisan stalls showcasing local, sustainable and ethical food, crafts, homewares and art.

Headstone Village Show 2026

Join our 8-session museum adventure course for 2 to 5's to explore heritage through play, storytelling and creativity, combining hands-on activities, movement and crafts, culminating with a celebration showcasing what your little ones have discovered. 

The course aims to support early learning.


What to expect:

Part 1: My Home, Your Home, Manor Home (September & October)

This autumn, little explorers will discover what makes a house a home through stories, creative play, building activities and sensory exploration inspired by the historic Headstone Manor. 

Together we'll compare homes past and present, meet the people who once lived here and create our own miniature manor houses.


Part 2: Around the Moat (November & December)

Splash into history this autumn as we explore one of Headstone Manor's most fascinating features – its moat. 

Through water play, storytelling, nature discovery and creative activities, children will investigate who lives in and around the moat, build mini bridges, explore habitats and set off on their own moat adventures. 

Designed especially for toddlers and preschoolers, these sessions encourage curiosity, imagination and confidence while introducing children to the unique history and wildlife of Headstone Manor.
