Embrace your creativity at Little Hands Design October Half Term Camp! In this exciting week, you'll discover how to design and make spooky Halloween costumes and accessories or create your own autumn/winter fashion collection. Through a focus on ZERO WASTE design, we are using surplus materials donated by leading fashion brands, as well as deconstructing and redesigning thrifted clothes. Get ready to experiment with unconventional ideas, inspired by emerging designers in the fashion industry. At Little Hands Design, we cater to all dexterity levels, so don't worry if you're a beginner – we've got you covered! From designing and measuring to cutting fabric and mastering the sewing machine, we'll teach you the skills you need to bring your creations to life. This course will show you that fashion is so much more than just sewing fabric, although we do a lot of that too! Throughout the week, our experienced teachers will guide you through the process, ensuring you feel confident and supported. We'll provide all the necessary materials and give you plenty of opportunities to let your imagination run wild. Feel a mix of excitement and curiosity as you explore new techniques and materials, and rest assured, our teachers are excited to join you on your explorative journey. By the end of the Camp, you'll have not only learned valuable sewing skills and gained an understanding of what it takes to be a thoughtful designer. You will also take home your handmade autumn collection and/or SPOOKY Halloween costume! So, what are you waiting for? Let your creativity shine this October half-term holiday! WHAT YOU'LL GET: We work with high quality industry waste materials kindly donated to us by leading fashion houses such as Ted Baker, Orlebar Brown, Anya Hindmarch, Marks & Spencer, Closet London, Eponine London and more. Students are also encouraged to deconstruct, redesign, alter and mend their existing clothes and accessories. YOU WILL GET EXPERIENCE IN: • Using a sewing machine • Clothes and pattern making • Designing skills with a purpose • Understanding the lifecycle of things • Hands-on life skills Our approach follows the UNESCO adopted pedagogy “Education for Sustainable Development’. Students are encouraged to express a wide variety of issues such as identity, inclusivity, gender, heritage, love, peace and beauty in their creative work. All materials, tools and equipment, patterns, designs and inspirations as well as expert instruction to create fantastic pieces are included. WHAT TO BRING: Lunch is not provided: so please bring a packed lunch. Suitable for kids (minimum 8 years old).

By the end of the workshop, not only will you have a fabulous new wardrobe, but you'll also have a deeper understanding of sustainability. During the workshop, we'll cover a wide range of skills suitable for all dexterity levels. From designing to measuring and cutting, and of course mastering the sewing machine, you'll learn it all. Rest assured, if you're a beginner, we'll provide the guidance you need to feel comfortable and confident. And if you're already experienced, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to take your fashion skills to the next level. So get ready to explore the exciting world of fashion. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned fashionista, hands-on classes will teach you how to develop your own unique dress sense and create stylish clothes and accessories. During the week, you will have the opportunity to make unique presents or festive decorations or dive into the party spirit with your own fabulous creations. How about that special party dress or sparkling top for the festive season? Or would you rather make snuggly PJ’s or some Urban Streetwear? At LHD, we believe in being mindful of the environment, so our focus goes beyond just fashion. Throughout the course, you will learn about the lifecycle of materials and how to incorporate sustainability into your designs. By the end of the course, not only will you have a new understanding of fashion, but you'll also have fabulous handmade designs to show for it! Explore the beauty within and all around us, through your creativity at LHD's Summer THRIVE Camp. Look good in clothes and outfits you have designed and made yourself that do not harm the world. Little Hands Design teaches skills at all dexterity levels – from designing, measuring and cutting, to mastering the sewing machine. For boys and girls from age 8-18years. With a focus on ZERO WASTE design, we are using industrial waste materials kindly donated by leading fashion brands, to deconstruct and redesign thrifted clothes, and will play with unusual materials such as bicycle inner tubes and crisp wrappers. The course is highly experimental - fashion is not just sewing fabric... although we do that a lot, too! These practical, hands-on, fun-packed sessions will teach you how to develop your own unique dress sense and how to design and make clothes and accessories whilst being mindful of the environment. You will learn: • To use the sewing machine • Clothes and pattern making • Design skills with a purpose • Understand lifecycle of things • Hands-on life skills • Discover the MAGIC THREE - giggles, curiosity, play Suitable for ages 8-18 THINGS TO REMEMBER In this captivating course, you'll learn how to develop your own unique dress sense and become a responsible designer, maker and consumer. Through practical, hands-on activities, you'll dive into the world of fashion and learn how to design and make clothes and accessories. But that's not all – we'll do it all while being mindful of our impacts on the environment. We're incredibly fortunate to have the support of leading fashion brands, who have kindly donated their industry waste materials of the highest quality. This means you'll have the opportunity to experiment and create with materials that would have otherwise gone to waste. Throughout the term, you will become familiar with the sewing machines, essential to clothing construction. We will also explore the art of mending, altering, and thrifting, giving new life to old garments. You will learn about the life cycle of clothes and become a socially conscious influencer, making informed choices about your fashion consumption. The class will introduce you to new technologies aimed at reducing the impact of fashion on the environment. This exciting learning opportunity is perfect for students aged 8-18 who have a keen interest in fashion and a desire to unleash their creativity in a mindful way. If you're working towards completing your Duke of Edinburgh "skills" (from age 12+ yrs), this workshop is an excellent choice. You will not only gain valuable fashion skills but can also continue with us for your "volunteering" (from age 14+ yrs).
