On Sunday 20 November at 16.00, come along and experience a one-off ice skating experience, hosted by our partners from the original winter wonderland of the Bern Region in Switzerland. Bringing a uniquely Swiss winter vibe, Bern Baby Bern is a unique opportunity to skate with a Swiss twist, meet Bernie the Swiss mountain dog mascot, and receive some local Swiss goodies. The enchanting region of the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland provides the backdrop for the ultimate winter experience for both thrill seekers and traditional winter lovers alike. Step inside the magical world of This Bright Land, transforming our magnificent courtyard into a wonderland open to all, with joyful day-and-night performances, music, dance, talks, workshops and more, platforming established creatives and grassroots communities. Created by Somerset House Studios artists Gareth Pugh and Carson McColl, This Bright Land will put togetherness at its heart. From bold attractions including a 35m observation wheel and open-air Vogue Balls, staged in collaboration with Vogue Rites, to parties hosted by creative collectives and Sunday street parties, the festival seeks to encourage connection and collaboration through entertainment and play. There will be a fee to participate in some of the activities available. Open every day - so much is free! Weekend Highlights (19-21 Aug) Our third SUNDAY STREET PARTY is brought to you by Figs in Wigs, the aficionados of deadpan dancing and pointless party games, land in our courtyard to bring you a day-to-night party for the whole family. Our FRIDAY WEEKEND WARM-UPS return with ESEA Sisters, the collective creating space for women, trans*, non-binary & genderqueer folks of East and Southeast Asian heritage. On Saturday night our spectacular VOGUE BALLS continue as Vogue Rites invites you to The Butterfly Ball, a night honouring transformation and joy.

London’s leading festival of experimental games returns to Somerset House showcasing the very latest in independent and experimental game design from across the globe. Now in its eighth year, the festival hosts a weekend of engaging interaction and play for all ages to enjoy. This year’s festival explores the relationship between democracy and game design, inviting audiences to creatively explore what democracy can learn from game design, and in turn how game design can become more democratic. Power, decision-making and representation serve as inspiration for thought-provoking solo and multiplayer gaming experiences by pioneering creative voices from around the world. Well, prepare for your favourite Beano characters to shake things up as we celebrate their spirit of rebellion with our major new exhibition. Step into the pages of the comic and take a trip into Beanotown to explore how this beloved icon of British comics has fired up successive generations to break the rules, while discovering artists who push boundaries in their own original and wonderful ways. Come face-to-face with the Beano gang - including Dennis and Gnasher, Minnie the Minx, Bananaman and the Bash Street Kids – through original comic artwork and amazing artefacts, plundered from the Beano’s archive.
