Let’s kick off the Spring season by learning how to sew sustainable clothes on a machine and creating your own designs! Based at our fashion hub in the heart of Chelsea, you will be guided by our experienced tutors whilst making new friends. This term you will create new sustainable pieces to add to your Spring Wardrobe. Using a selection of dead-stock designer fabrics, you will create a co-ord set which is both on-trend and sustainable. You will need to use your imagination and creativity to design and develop your look, from drawing a pattern to sewing your final garments. This fashionable look will be the perfect addition to your wardrobe! This course is suitable for both beginners and the more experienced. Example Brief: This term you will create new sustainable pieces to add to your Spring wardrobe. At the end of term they will come home with: Design sheets, sustainable fabric awareness and technical sewing samples. A completed garment and/or accessory designed and made by them. Certificate of completion (over 80% attendance).

Pablo Picasso Here at The Fashion School we believe that anyone can learn to express themselves and find their creative outlet, using a wide range of materials, tools and techniques from a very young age, whether fabric, needle and thread or canvas, paint and glue. Traditional techniques such as drawing are skills that can be learned, and schools are excellent at teaching this. We plan to take your child on a different creative journey, introducing the work of contemporary and modern artists and movements and opening the exciting world of art galleries and exhibitions as well as teaching new skills and then allowing the students to make their own creative decisions to produce their own individual artworks. This class must be booked for the whole term. Daily rate only applies for a pre-booked trial class.

Our Parent and Child Daytime Sewing Class is suitable for those aged 3-100 years old. Join Naomi for a bonding daytime sewing class as both you and your preschool child learn to sew a simple first garment or repair a current item of clothing together. A morning full of skills learning and a lot of laughter! All fabrics included (unless you want to bring your own!) FashionLab Career is for the young creative who sees fashion as more than a hobby and wants to be in an environment with like-minded individuals who are looking to pursue the creative arts in further education. You will be working with Tshala on industry focussed projects covering sustainability awareness, upcycling, experimental design, advanced sewing and pattern cutting techniques. The class vibe is positive and friendly. You will also visit the V&A to see the Diva and Chanel blockbuster fashion exhibitions in week 2 or 3 with Caroline. The price is in with the term’s fee. Lessons are taught in our fully equipped fashion studio in Chelsea. Students will be expected to do at least 1.5 hours of independent research and sketchbook work outside of their class each week to complete their project successfully. Example Brief: Imagine that... You are attending your fantasy Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum in New York (think V&A), but to attend you must design and make your outfit. What will your theme be? A historical event, a place, your favourite film? Who will be your muse?

Hosted by The Fashion School CIC* FashionLab is for the students who love to be creative and have an interest in fashion! This term will teach students about the importance of sustainability within the fashion industry and how they can still enjoy fashion in a responsible way. The students will continue to enhance their design, making and textile skills, leaving the course with a fabulous handmade garment to be proud of and that will demonstrate everything they have learnt over the term. A wonderful selection of donated deadstock designer fabrics will be available for the students to pick from to use, from designers such as Alexander McQueen, Brogger and Preen to name a few. It's time to explore your identity through your clothing. You'll be making something for yourself and exploring your creativity. What inspires you? Will you add cultural influences? How will your other hobbies or your music taste inspire your designs? Will your influences inspire the shape of your garment or the type of fabric and textiles you use? You'll be exploring these ideas whilst learning to use a sewing machine, adapt patterns and sew your garment.

Learn to quilt by making a patchwork quilted cushion using our Liberty fabric scraps in Christmas patterns and colours. Hand and machine sewing skills will be taught. Our quilting tutor Jodie will teach you all the skills you need to make a beautiful cushion to keep or gift this Christmas. Calling all budding fashion illustrators. This workshop will teach new techniques and skills to illustrate confidently from collage and your own designs. You will get to experiment with lots of different mediums including collage, fine line, ink, pro marker, pencil, crayon and oil pastel. You will also get the opportunity to create your own designs by draping with our fabulous fabrics on a mannequin. You will leave with a stitchbound book of all your fantastic illustrations. This short course is perfect for beginners and for those who have been to us before.

Even the super silky luxury satin ribbon is made from recycled plastic bottles. Under our expert tuition, beginners are welcome and depending on your ability, expect to make a top with a complimentary bottom. Course tickets are for all 3 days - £285 for the 3 day workshop

We will introduce you to working digitally and take you through the process of developing a fashion project through the use of technology. Come to our new pretty little studio at 19 Ashburnham Rd, SW10 for 4 days of learning how to design and sew. Design and make an outfit and accessory such as a dress, skirt, cargo pants or a hoodie. An accessory could be anything from a scrunchie to a tote bag. This workshop is suitable for beginners onwards! Tuesday 30th May: Your first day will be focused on designing, and you will also learn how to use the sewing machine. Throughout the day you will learn many simple techniques such as embroidery. Wednesday 31st May: you will be choosing the garment and accessory from a selection of patterns and cutting out each item. Thursday 1st June: This is where the exciting part happens! Sewing your garment/accessory. Friday 2nd June: You will concentrate mainly on sewing the final touches. Embellishments can be added such as free motion machine embroidery, hand embroidery and various trims also.

Over the three days, you will see how all areas interlink and how to choose the right area to suit your future in fashion. EXAMPLE ITINERARY: Day 1 - Introduction to understanding the Fashion Industry. Defining the different areas of fashion business and the global effects on fashion roles. Find out what Trend Forecasting is and how it Influences the industry. Predict a new fashion trend from research. Day 2 - Buying & Merchandising principles and how they work together. Key roles of a buyer: How to develop a range plan from a trend. Day 3 - Marketing, PR & Visual Merchandising Styling. Learn about the different roles within the Fashion & Marketing sector and discover how they are a crucial part of a sustainable business. Understand how to conjure up innovative strategies and techniques on sales and fashion communications. Find out why creating consistency across the brand with online and offline visual merchandising is important whilst developing a digital aesthetic lookbook to use as an in-store visual merchandising guide.
