About The Playing Space
Welcome to The Playing Space. We teach a wide range of speech and drama classes, courses and workshops in North London.
We offer out-of-school classes during term time, as well as fantastic holiday clubs.
We teach children of all ages and we run excellent teacher training workshops for adults.
For everyone who works at The Playing Space, it is our own love of drama – and our own happy memories of the drama lessons we had when we were younger – that has brought us to this point.
The Playing Space has always had the development of real life skills at the core of its ethos. Some of these skills are obvious, such as confidence, communication, teamwork, and listening. Some are hidden deeper beneath the surface, such as empathy, initiative, perseverance and the courage to step out of comfort zones.
We’re clever at disguising all this wonderful education and training underneath all the fun that our students are having, but we have a sneaking suspicion that many of them realise that, as well as really enjoying their weekly lesson, they are also benefitting in lots of other ways.
Most importantly, we want every child in our groups to feel they belong. We achieve this by keeping group sizes small, and by gently challenging our students to step outside their comfort zones in a way they can manage, and without fear of being judged or criticised.
To sum up The Playing Space philosophy: we want our students to develop the confidence and skills to express themselves well by giving them a fun and safe environment in which to practise.

5.30pm Pick Up: £15/day or £50/week (4 days – no late pick up on Friday due to Presentation)
HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS
The Playing Space holiday workshops are hugely popular with children and parents alike.
Parents tell us that their children have been talking non-stop about drama and begging to come to the next half-term or holiday course.
"I would recommend this club to anyone and cannot wait for my son to go again. The difference it made to his confidence in just a week was fantastic."
Our drama games, exercises and activities are designed to encourage teamwork and co-operation.
Children in our holiday groups, who often come from different schools and backgrounds, soon form strong bonds.
They love working, playing and eating together!
By the end of the course there is a real sense of exhilaration and camaraderie as the children make preparations for the final show and get ready to share their work with Mum, Dad, baby brother, and whoever else has come along.
"Chad is a shy boy, so I was delighted to see him coming out of the club very animated and enthused."
Holiday workshops culminate in an informal performance for parents on the final day.
All workshops incorporate morning and afternoon breaks, as well as a lunch break.
Children should bring a packed lunch. Water and fruit are provided through the day.
We ask students to wear loose, comfortable clothing and shoes that they can easily put on and take off. If wearing skirts/dresses then please wear leggings or shorts underneath.
"My daughter absolutely loved it. The organisation was excellent. I will certainly send her to your holiday club again!"
Join us for a week of dramatic fun and games, craft activities and playtime in a beautiful garden.

Join us for a brilliant week of drama games and improvisation as your children explore the Land of Dreams, where literally anything is possible.
Maybe they will meet the Sandman, or the King of the Flying Banana-People... or a cat who can play the banjo at the same time as doing metaphysical calculations. (Well, I did say that ANYTHING was possible).
Your children will work together to create their own amazing devised play based around the theme of The Land of Dreams and they'll also be making their own costumes and props in our daily craft sessions.
Children will be put in age groups of no more than 10, to make sure everyone gets loads of attention.
At The Playing Space our priority is making sure your children have loads of fun, it's their holiday after all, while also providing loads of creative stimulation to stretch their imagination muscles, and make sure that they spend a week with us that they'll never forget!

This is going to be a really fun and silly week, with all sorts of zany goings on in the world of fairytales.
Maybe we'll find a politically correct Wolf who can't eat Red Riding Hood as he's now gone vegan?
Maybe the actors will revolt against a tyrannical director? Anything is possible, as your children work together to create their own amazing devised play based around the theme of Fairytales Going Wrong.
As if that's not enough, they'll also be making their own costumes and props in our daily craft sessions.

Children will step into this classic tale that shows how nature can heal everyone, from spoilt orphan Mary Lennox to sickly Colin Craven. Meet Dickon, who can talk to the animals, and bossy Mrs Matlock the housekeeper and all sorts of other wonderful characters!
