Piece of Music provides music classes for children aged 3 to 6 years old. From rhythm training and body percussion, to singing high and low, in our group classes children will improve their musical skills through playful activities and movement. We offer two specialised group music classes for kids to build their musical foundation and prepare them for future music study: Early Ears Training (3 to 4-years old and 4 to 5-years old) and Music Theory Introduction (5 to 6-years old). What makes our classes different is the use of the piano and classical music, combined with learning through movement. Playing excerpts from well-known classical pieces on a real instrument, we encourage children to engage in a series of fun movement exercises that help them improve their listening skills, coordination and awareness of the main musical elements such as pitch, tempo and dynamics.

About Music Theory Introduction, 5-6 yrs

Group music class for 5 to 6 years old children.

Music Theory Introduction is a pre-instrumental programme aimed at children between the ages of 5 - 6.

These lessons are especially good for the child who is not yet ready to sit through an individual lesson, or for any child who really wants to start a musical instrument, but is not quite ready for the traditional private lessons.

Children learn through group activities in an enjoyable and stimulating way. The curriculum develops musicianship through singing and movement.

Children learn to identify a range of orchestra instruments and their sound qualities, while also gaining an early awareness and knowledge of composers and masterpieces of classical music.

Students are also introduced to basic music terminology, terms, techniques and ear training.

Young musicians learn melodic notation, identify pitches such as the C, A, and D notes on the treble clef and learn rhythmic notation. Eventually, they will even compose their own music.

Each class is 35 minutes, packed full of dynamic musical activities, perfectly suited to the attention span of the young child.

Class prices are based on booking per term.
