Look, Imagine, Paint!
Join us for a fun, free and family-friendly drop-in painting session at RWS Gallery. This fun painting session is inspired by the artworks currently on display in the Royal Watercolour Society’s Summer Salon exhibition. Children can explore the exhibition, discover ideas from the artists, and create their own paintings to take home. No experience needed — just bring your imagination! Free to attend and suitable for children aged 5+. All children must be accompanied by an adult. About Royal Watercolour Society The origins of the Royal Watercolour Society can be traced back to the formation of the Society of Painters in Water Colours in 1804. Born out of a sense of grievance by a number of such artists who practised in watercolour and felt that they were discriminated against by the Royal Academy, the only professional artistic body of the day. On Friday 30 November 1804 the first meeting of ‘The Society Associated for the purpose of Establishing an Annual Exhibition of Paintings in Water Colours’ was held at The Stratford Coffee House on Oxford Street, London. Founder Members include Samuel Shelley, William Frederick Wells, William Sawrey Gilpin and brothers, John and Cornelius Varley. The Royal Watercolour Society was born! In 1823 the Society was offered a lease at 6 Pall Mall East which they gladly accepted and remained there for 115 years. When that lease came to an end in 1938, little did the Members at that time know, that they would return less than 100 years later when the Society would sign a further lease in 2020, for 250 years no less! In 1881 Queen Victoria granted the Society a Royal Charter, and agreed to sign the certificates that each RWS Member receives on election to the Society. This tradition continues to the present day. King Charles III became Patron of the Royal Watercolour Society on 3rd May 2024. Today, the RWS is an artist-led society made up of an elected Membership who are amongst the finest practitioners in contemporary water-based painting. Artists work in a variety of water media including gouache, acrylic, pen & ink, pigment, collage, mixed media as well as traditional watercolour. The aim of the Society is to promote, by example and education, the understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of these exciting media.

Join artist Tihara Smith for an exciting family workshop exploring textiles, colour and The Caribbean. Family Space is a relaxed, creative workshop designed for families to explore and make together. About Tihara Smith Tihara Smith is a fashion designer and textile artist inspired by Caribbean culture and the Windrush Generation. Known for her raffia embroidery, she celebrates her heritage through vibrant design, workshops, and collaborations. Her work has been acquired by the London Museum and she has worked with institutions like the V&A and Somerset House. Tihara was selected as one of The King’s Foundation’s 35 Under 35, and in 2026 published her first book Raffia Embroidery: Vibrant Designs Inspired by the Caribbean. Tihara also creates Caribbean-inspired stationery, accessories, and greeting cards.

A Grade II listed Georgian town house, it was originally restored with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The Collection is known internationally for its core of Futurist works, as well as figurative art and sculpture dating from 1890 to the 1950s. The Brief: Build Your Own 1:1 Scale Furniture Great design isn't just about drawing pretty concepts; it’s about solving real human problems within strict material constraints. This is not a theoretical exercise — the designs created in this boot camp will be physically built and rigorously tested. During the boot camp, our 24 young designers will design and fabricate a 1:1 scale furniture piece. Industry Mentorship To ensure our students get the most realistic studio experience possible, the boot camp features exclusive talks and mentorship from practising industry experts. Children's Drawing & Painting
Our children's art classes run on a termly basis, providing children aged 6-9 with an introduction to the basics of drawing and painting. Each week children will build on their skills learnt in previous weeks, developing their confidence and ability. Taught by experienced, supportive, and friendly teacher Aynur Erdal, this class is the perfect opportunity to introduce your child to the world of art. We welcome any students wishing to join for the whole term at a rate of £195 or after the beginning of the term with a pro rata rate of £15 per class until the end of the term. You are also welcome to book an initial taster class at a half-price rate of £7.50 ahead of booking the whole term.

First you’ll choose a bear from the collection of teddy bears, then you’ll hand stuff your bear using the vacuum sealed fibre packs. Before it’s all sealed, you can add a special heart and magic wish that’ll be inside your teddy bear forever. With plenty of outfits to choose from, you’ll style your teddy, giving it its very own unique style. Creative activities for toddlers
Creative activities are great for toddlers because they help to expand their imaginations, develop their autonomy (which they crave at this age!) and enhance their self-expression.
You can expect lots of making using a wide variety of tools, along with open-ended storytelling, freestyle dancing and singing. Children who like building will find sessions using blocks, clay and other open-ended materials.
Just remember to keep their developmental stage in mind to set them up for success. Tools might need to be bigger to allow for easier grip, and stories may need to be simplified for their understanding.
Plus, you get to leave the mess out of the home. Always a bonus!
